Yes, sir that's St. Michaels... Tom Sullivan was boat store keeper and right across from here was Circus Jack, we called him, I forget his name, he was commissary man, and he would supply all the boats when we come in, gub and that, see? The last thing he done, he went up to the chief steward, the port steward, Joe Sanguinetti, and he got a gallon of wine, for the cook, you know? So he went down on the dock and he drained it into another bucket or something, then he filled it full of water. Going down to the ship he dropped it; broke the bottle, broke th jar. Then he went and told Sanguinetti what he done.

The 195' Inter Island steamer KINAU lies on Lyle and Sorenson's Marine ways, hauled out for a bottom copper sheathing job in the spring of 1888. Wilder Steam Navigation Company's KINAU was built by Wm. Cramp and Son in Philadelphia arriving in Honolulu November 1, 1883, with Captain Von Schmidt commanding. She operated on Inter Island runs into the late 1920's."

Probably a movie prop - "natives never came out to a trading schooner." Additional information included inside the negative enclosure: a letter from Capt. Fred Klebingat dated July 24, 1968. "Many thanks for the photograph of the Southsea Schooner. The way it looks, the photo is taken somewhere in the Southsea inside the barrier reef. It looks to be a movie picture, as the contraption that seems to be a shelter, mounted on a canoe alongside, is surely a movie prop.
