Biographical Note
Warren Heckrotte (1922-2019). Nuclear physicist and nuclear arms expert, known for his work at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory
and collaboration with the Atomic Energy Commission. Heckkrotte helped negotiate nuclear disarmament agreements under five
different presidential administrations, from Kennedy to Clinton.
Scope and Content of Collection
The collection consists of reports, correspondence, notes, photographs, printed matter, and one sound recording related to
Heckrotte's work regarding U.S.-Soviet nuclear disarmament negotiations. Most of the materials date from the early 1960s through
the 1990s, and relate to Heckrotte's work at the University of California Radiation Laboratory and tenure with the Atomic
Energy Commission.
