Biographical Note

Warren Heckrotte (1922-2019). Nuclear physicist and nuclear arms expert, known for his work at the Lawrence Livermore Laboratory and collaboration with the Atomic Energy Commission. Heckkrotte helped negotiate nuclear disarmament agreements under five different presidential administrations, from Kennedy to Clinton.

Scope and Content of Collection

The collection consists of reports, correspondence, notes, photographs, printed matter, and one sound recording related to Heckrotte's work regarding U.S.-Soviet nuclear disarmament negotiations. Most of the materials date from the early 1960s through the 1990s, and relate to Heckrotte's work at the University of California Radiation Laboratory and tenure with the Atomic Energy Commission.

This box contains notes, reports, and correspondence related to Heckrotte's professional travels to Geneva (1960s) and Moscow (1970s).

This box contains Heckrotte's reviews of professional publications, clippings, and printed materials. Includes correspondence and formal letters regarding Heckrotte's receipt of the Energy and Research and Development Administration (ERDA) Distinguished Associate Award, 1977.

Scope and Contents

This box contains printed materials and publications related to scientific theory and statistical models, and two folders of greeting cards and invitations to formal events. It includes University of California Radiation Laboratory (Berkeley) reports, and a copy of the Geneva Conference on the Discontinuance of Nuclear Weapon Tests: History and Analysis of Negotiations.
