- The California Federation for Civic Unity Records contain correspondence and material relating to the Federation's activities, 1945-1956, and deals mainly with racial minority problems such as discrimination, immigration, segregation, housing, Fair Employment Practices Committee, etc. Included, also, are a number of pamphlets, newspaper clippings, and copies of bills introduced in the National and State legislatures regarding discriminatory subjects. In addition to the incoming and outgoing correspondence, there are minutes of meetings, minutes of board meetings, financial statements, bills, audits, and conference and workshop notes.

The California Federation for Civic Unity Records contain correspondence and material relating to the Federation's activities, 1945-1956, and deals mainly with racial minority problems such as discrimination, immigration, segregation, housing, FEPC, etc. Included, also, are a number of pamphlets, newspaper clippings, and copies of bills introduced in the National and State legislatures regarding discriminatory subjects. In addition to the incoming and outgoing correspondence, there are minutes of meetings, minutes of board meetings, financial statements, bills, audits, and conference and workshop notes.
Of particular interest are seven letters from the American Council of Race Relations; six from the American Friends Service Committee; twenty from the American Jewish Committee; fourteen from the Anti Defamation League of B'nai B'rith; three letters from Eugene Block as executive director of the San Francisco Jewish Community Relations Council; six letters from the California Attorney General's Office; eight from the California Department of Education; five from the California Department of Employment; two from California Franchise Tax Board; four from California Governor's Office with two letters signed by Earl Warren as Governor; three letters from California Department of Industrial Relations; nine from the California Youth Authority; three letters from the Japanese American Citizen's League; one from the Urban League of Los Angeles; two from the Urban League of Portland [Oregon]; three from the National Committee Against Discrimination in Housing; six from the Palo Alto Fair Play Council; and twenty-six letters from Roma Philbrook as Director of Asilomar.
In addition, there is one letter each from Erskine Caldwell, Hugo Black, William O. Douglas, Ernest McFarland, Wayne Morse, and Harry Truman. Also included are one letter from Ernest Bramblett; two from George Collins, Jr.; one from Robert L. Condon; one from Helen Gahagan Douglas; one from Clair Engle; one from Chet Hollifield; two letters from Ala Oakley Hunter; one from Clinton McKinnon; one from Leroy Johnson; one from George P. Miller; one from Norris Poulson; one letter from Hubert B. Scudder; three from John F. Shelley; and two from Sam Yorty, all as U.S. Congressional Representatives from California.
Other letters included are three letters from Fred S. Farr; one from Luther Gibson; three from Augustus F. Hawkins; one from Verne Hoffman; two letters from Robert I. McCarthy; and two letters from George Miller, Jr., as State Senators; and seven letters from Verne Kilpatrick and two from Caspar W. Weinberger as State Assembly Representatives.

Established in March 1946 as the California Councils for Civic Unity; became the California Federation for Civic Unity in 1947. Disbanded in 1956.
