Typescript and additional material of A.H. (Arthur Hartley) Saxon's biography of Andrew Ducrow (1793-1842) the famous English equestrian who originated circus equestrian acts including "The Courier of St. Petersburg" which is still performed in 20th century circuses. Saxon's biography was begun in 1971 and was published with a grant from the John Simon Guggenheim foundation. This typescript is the unrevised draft submitted to the foundation in 1977 and includes additional material detailing the ordeal of completing the book and getting it published. The finished book was published by the Archon Press in 1978.
