The collection is mainly research materials on the Bloomsbury group, E.M. Forster, and William Hale White. Materials include lectures, research card indexes, and materials for Stone's publications. Also included are correspondence with E.M. Forster, Arthur Sale, Noel Annan, Basil Willey, Leonard Woolf, David Garnett, and relatives of William Hale White. Some materials about Stone's academic career at Stanford are also included.

Wilfred Healey Stone (1917-2015) was an author and professor of English at Stanford University. He joined the Stanford faculty in 1950 after earning his PhD from Harvard University, and served in the Department of English for 36 years His areas of research included nineteenth century and modern English literature with a particular emphasis on the Bloomsbury Group. He published two books on the fiction of these periods: Religion and Art of William Hale White (Mark Rutherford) in 1954, and The Cave and the Mountain: A Study of E.M. Forster in 1966.
