Includes tapes, transcripts, biographical materials, photographs, of oral history interviews with sixteen dentists from the San Francisco Bay Area, and correspondence and records associated with the project.

Biographical / historical:

The Dental Oral History Project, which focussed on the development of the dental profession in the San Francisco Bay Area, was carried out by UCSF School of Dentistry faculty member Robert Brigante, DDS, with the help of the Regional Oral History Office in the Bancroft Library, UC Berkeley. The interviewees were chosen as being representative of the profession, and interviewed by a UCSF dental student Warren Q. Longhurst, during the summers of 1967-68, funded through the office of the Chancellor, Willard Fleming, DDS.
