Abstract:
Memoranda, pamphlets, serial issues, proclamations, broadsides, leaflets, flyers, election campaign literature, and video tapes, relating to various aspects of Ukrainian history, mainly in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, and especially to events leading up to establishment of Ukrainian independence in 1991, and to subsequent Ukrainian politics and elections.

Background

Scope and content:

Materials relating to various aspects of Ukrainian history, mainly in the Soviet and post-Soviet periods, and especially to events leading up to establishment of Ukrainian independence in 1991, and to subsequent Ukrainian politics.

The collection contains articles, booklets, brochures, bulletins, leaflets, propaganda, reports, newsletters, memoranda, pamphlets, serial issues, proclamations, broadsides, flyers, election campaign literature, posters, postcards and ephemera, and video and audio recordings.

Of interest are materials relating to the wave of demonstrations and civil unrest in Ukraine which led to Ukrainian revolution, known as the Revolution of Dignity. In addition, collection contains materials on relations between Ukraine and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and relations between the European Union (EU) and Ukraine. Materials arranged alphabetically by subject.

The Audiovisual file includes additional documents reflecting civil activities and political events. Audio and video recordings arranged by format, then alphabetically by title. The titles are taken from cassette and discs labels.

Arrangement:

The collection is arranged into two series: Subject file and Audiovisual file. The Subject file consists largely of documentation associated with activities of Ukrainian political parties and movements and presents the historical development and role of political parties in Ukrainian politics.

Restrictions:

Boxes 73 and OCM16 may not be used without permission of the Archivist. The remainder of the collection is open for research; materials must be requested in advance via our reservation system. If there are audiovisual or digital media material in the collection, they must be reformatted before providing access.
