The collection relates to political and military conditions in Russia during World War I, the Russian Revolution, and family affairs. It includes letters and photographs relating to Grand Duke Georgiĭ Mikhaĭlovich and other members of the Russian Imperial family on visits to the European and Caucasian fronts during World War I, 1914-1916. Includes correspondence with Princess Nina Chavchavadze (née Romanova) and her husband, Prince Paul Aleksandrovich Chavchavadze. It also includes photographs of Grand Duchess Mariia Georgievna, daughter of King George I and Queen Olga of Greece and wife of Grand Duke Georgiĭ Mikhaĭlovich of Russia, in various European resorts, from 1900-1904.

George, Grand Duke of Russia is also known as Georgiĭ Mikhaĭlovich, Grand Duke of Russia. He was a General in the Russian army and a special military representative of Tsar Nicholas II during World War I.

In 2023, the title of this collection was changed from Grand Duke George Letters to Princess Kseniia to Grand Duke George Mikhailovich family letters and photographs. Additionally, the contents from the Queen Olga photographic collection (Coll ID 85049) was merged into this collection (Boxes 3 and 4) and the finding aid has been removed.
