Biographical / historical:

Caroline Wenzel was born in San Francisco, the daughter of George F. and Jennie Wenzel. She graduated from the California State Library School in 1914 and joined the California State Library the same year. Her memberships and offices included a charter membership in the Sacramento Historic Landmarks Commission, a trusteeship with the California Historical Society, and a board seat on the California Historical Foundation, College of the Pacific. She was employed at the State Library 37 years, 22 years as head of the California Section.
