Biographical / historical:

Bernard Augustine DeVoto, born in Ogden, Utah in 1897, received his early education in Utah and graduated from Harvard in 1920. He taught English and creative writing at Northwestern and Harvard Universities. DeVoto was a novelist, historian, critic, editor, and a vigorous exponent of government conservation of natural resources. He died in 1955.
