Background

Scope and content:

The Willys Ruggles Peck papers include correspondence and writings related to the life and career of Willys Peck in China as American Consul General in Nanking. Included are many family letters, but also letters between Peck and fellow diplomats, including John V.A. MacMurray, Stanley Hornbeck, and Nelson T. Johnson, spanning a time period basically from 1900 to the end of World War II.

Includes a report and photograph album by American Vice Consul Lincoln C. Reynolds (Peck's son-in-law) in Nanking on his trip to the Sino-Japanese war front, March 12-15, 1932.
