Biographical / historical:

Santa Clara County purchased its first parkland in 1928. The County Department of Parks and Recreation was formed in 1956. It manages 28 regional parks which encompass nearly 45,000 acres. Many of the parks include points of local historical interest.

Acquisition information:
These images were given to the Archives by the County Department of Parks and Recreation in 2008.

This collection was processed by Michael Griffith working under NHPRC grant RA-10047-07, the Santa Clara County Archives Project. A fuller account of the grant project is available at the Archives website.
