Scope and content:

Collection consists of a photograph of Farish in uniform; copies of his military records, 1944-52; copies of articles about him, 1941-1984; a pamphlet he wrote entitled "The True Strength of America," 1941; and two letters from his widow Nora Farish to Carol King concerning his life, 1984.

Biographical / historical:

Farish, Stanford class of 1924, was a petroleum geologist. He fought during World War II, first in the British Army and then in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. He was assigned to rescue Allied flyers stranded in Yugoslavia. He died September 11, 1944, in a plane crash in Greece.
