- Biographical / historical:

Marmaduke Raymond "Duke" Clark was born on September 23, 1889 in Orange, New Jersey. A graduate of The City College of New York and Columbia University, he found work as an exhibitor and an actor before being dispatched to Siberia as senior secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association, attached to the Czechoslovak Legion and American Expeditionary Forces, from 1918 to 1920.
Following his work in Siberia, Clark moved to Ohio and spent most of the rest of his life working in the motion picture industry, primarily at Paramount. He died on July 15, 1964, in San Mateo, California.
