- The album contains 102 black and white photographs, 87 of which are of scenes of the late Qing Dynasty China. Most of the China-based photos appear to be from the time following the Boxer Rebellion (1900-1901). Additional 15 photographs appear to be mainly of scenes in New York City and surrounding areas.

The album contains 102 black and white photographs 87 of which are of scenes of late Qing Dynasty China. Most of the China-based photos appear to from the time following the Boxer Rebellion (1900-1901) with shots of various foreign troops (American, British, German, French and Japanese) and foreign consular buildings and monuments to the Boxer Rebellion. Other photos are of Chinese temples, boats, and streets taken in various locations. There is also a series of photos of Chinese inhabitants engaged in various activities and settings (fishing, in barbershops, working as minstrels and jugglers among others), in a number of places most of which appear to be in Peking (Beijing) and other areas of northeast China. Locales (from photo captions) include: Kuye[h], (Guye), Tienstin (Tianjin), Peking (Beijing), and the Pei-ho (Beihe) River. A photo captioned "The Photographer" shows a soldier in the uniform of the American Expeditionary Force next to a sign marked Kuyeh// 古冶 (Guye in Hebei Province southeast of Beijing).
The additional 15 photographs appear to be mainly of scenes in New York City and surrounding areas. There are shots of Central Park, what appears to be the Obelisk located behind the Metropolitan Museum of Art (otherwise unidentified shots of an armour collection are most likely from the Metropolitan), and Blackwells Island Bridge. There is also a photograph of a monument commemorating the birthplace of Daniel D. Tompkins, Governor of New York 1807-1817 and Vice President of the United States from 1817-1825. Tomkins was born in what is now Scarsdale, NY and additional photographs of houses may be from this locale.
