Scope and content:: Depicts American residents and scenes of daily life in Shanghai and elsewhere in China and other parts of East Asia.
Biographical / historical:: Samuel (Sam) H. Nixon was a Canadian-American businessman working for Standard Oil Company of New York as a personnel manager in North China. An American citizen, Nixon's hometown was Woodstock, Canada. In 1984-1985 he joined Standard Subsidiary in St. Louis; later the company became Waters-Pierce Oil company. In 1908 he was appointed Socony Far Eastern Auditor. Then in 1910/1913 he transferred to the office in Shanghai where he was Personnel Manager of the North China staff. He retired in 1929.
