Background
- Scope and content:
-
The S.O.S. Program Collection consists of recordings, transcripts and supporting material documenting the S.O.S. Program, a series of public service lectures and discussion groups for people undergoing divorce, founded by Sally Spray (presently Sally Moltzen) in Palo Alto, California in 1963. The S.O.S. Program, which according to Moltzen was "the first organized professionally-led discussion group in the country," provided some of the first access to mental health professionals by persons with marital problems outside of private practice. Their successful model for divorce group therapy inspired many similiar groups around country. A more detailed list of collection contents, including the names of speakers, is available.
