Sanford M. Dornbusch (1926-2016) was the Reed-Hodgson Professor in Human Biology, Emeritus, and a professor emeritus of sociology. He was hired as the chair of the Stanford Sociology Department in 1959. Dornbusch specialized in social psychology, the sociology of education, and adolescence, including the impact of divorce on adolescents; factors involved in the academic performance of Chicano students; and the evolution of family structures. Dornbusch was a member of the Advisory Board of the Academic Council at Stanford University, which considered H. Bruce Franklin's case about Franklin's dismissal from the Stanford faculty.
