- Biographical / historical:

Norman Allan Devine Parlee (1915-1985) was professor of metallurgy in the Dept. of Mineral Engineering at Stanford University from 1962 until his retirement in 1982; he was professor emeritus until his death in 1985. A graduate of Dalhousie and McGill Universities, Parlee began his career as a research metallurgist at Dominion Steel and Coal Corp. in 1939. He left industry in 1952 to join the faculty at Purdue University. He was a fellow of the Chemical Institute of Canada and the American Institute of Chemistry.
