Background

Scope and content:

The Performing Arts Portrait Collection consists of photographs and other images of several hundred individuals and groups. The majority of photos are of theater and other arts personalities of the 20th century. Examples are Maude Adams, Beaux Arts Quartet, Harry Belafonte, Johnny Cash, Judy Clayton, Greta Garbo, Jack London, Steve Martin, Ralph Nader, Pablo Picasso, Mort Sahl, and Frank Zappa. For additional images, see other performing arts collections and theater scrapbooks held by SDSU's Special Collections and University Archives.

Acquisition information:
The bulk of photos in this collection were publicity photos sent to the Associated Students as promotional material for performances at SDSU. There are multiple donors.

Photographs and other images are filed alphabetically by subject's name.
