[History or Biography]
Maria Jesus De Shorb (1844-1917), Annie Wilson (1854-?), and Ruth Patton (1861-1928), are
the daughters of Benjamin Davis Wilson, a prominent California statesman and politician
during the 1800’s. Maria is the daughter of Ramona Yorba, the first wife of Wilson, and
Annie and Ruth are the daughter’s of Margret Hereford, Wilson’s second wife. Southern
California’s Mt. Wilson was named after Benjamin Davis Wilson.
Maria Jesus De Shorb (Maria De Jesus “Sue” Wilson Shorb) married James DeBarth Shorb in
1867, they had eleven children. James worked for Maria’s father and developed much of the
land in Los Angeles, including the cities of Alhambra which he named, and San Marino.
Annie Wilson never married and lived with her sister Ruth and her family.
Ruth Patton married George S. Patton Sr., a California politician. They are the
parents of George S. Patton Jr., the famous World War II General.
