This collection consists of papers having to do with land plots in the Wilmington area of Los Angeles. The owners of the land are sisters Maria Jesus De Shorb, Annie Wilson, and Ruth Patton. In 1909 a trust was established by the Title Insurance and Trust Company of Los Angeles naming Annie Wilson and Ruth Patton the grantors and Maria Shorb the beneficiary. The collection contains preliminary trust papers as well as the declaration of trust (trust # 2010). Also included are tax reports, receipts, and statements from the trust from the years between 1909 and 1938, various deeds and title papers, court papers, and correspondences.
- Biographical / historical:

Maria Jesus De Shorb (1844-1917), Annie Wilson (1854-?), and Ruth Patton (1861-1928), are the daughters of Benjamin Davis Wilson, a prominent California statesman and politician during the 1800’s. Maria is the daughter of Ramona Yorba, the first wife of Wilson, and Annie and Ruth are the daughter’s of Margret Hereford, Wilson’s second wife. Southern California’s Mt. Wilson was named after Benjamin Davis Wilson.
Maria Jesus De Shorb (Maria De Jesus “Sue” Wilson Shorb) married James DeBarth Shorb in 1867, they had eleven children. James worked for Maria’s father and developed much of the land in Los Angeles, including the cities of Alhambra which he named, and San Marino.
Annie Wilson never married and lived with her sister Ruth and her family.
Ruth Patton married George S. Patton Sr., a California politician. They are the parents of George S. Patton Jr., the famous World War II General.
