Ruth Brooks Flippen was a prolific television and motion picture writer. Among her credits are the television series Bewitched, My World and Welcome to It, and Days of Our Lives and the motion pictures Gidget Goes Hawaiian, Sail a Crooked Ship, and Gidget Goes to Rome. Collection includes scripts, research, notes, photographs, and clippings related to her career. In addition there are personal photographs, correspondence, and papers pertaining to actor and comedian Jay C. Flippen.

Collection consists of scripts, research, notes, photographs, and clippings related to the career of writer Ruth Brooks Flippen. Contains material for several produced and unproduced projects including motion pictures Gidget Goes Hawaiian (1961), Looking for Love (1965), and Love Is Better Than Ever (1952) and television series The Farmer's Daughter, General Hospital (ca. June 1972-ca. Nov. 1972), and Gidget. Also includes some personal photographs, correspondence, and papers pertaining to Flippen's husband, actor Jay C. Flippen.

Biographical / historical:

Ruth Albertina Brooks was born in Brooklyn, NY on Sept. 14, 1921. Among her numerous credits are the television television programs Bewitched, My World and Welcome to It, and Days of Our Lives and motion pictures Gidget Goes Hawaiian, Sail a Crooked Ship, and Gidget Goes to Rome. She was married to actor and comedian Jay C. Flippen, and was the Emmy recipient for Oh Baby, Baby, Baby. Ruth Brooks Flippen died in Marina del Rey, CA on July 9, 1981.
