The collection contains correspondence, documents, maps, sketches, newspaper clippings, and historical recollections regarding the involvement of the New York Heavy Artillery, 6th Regiment (Vol.) in the Civil War, apparently as collected by The Fraternity of the Survivors of the Sixth New York Volunteer Artillery, organized at Yonkers, NY, 1890. Much of the material apparently was accumulated by Major Fredrick Shonnard, President of the fraternity.
