Abstract: The Woman in the Moon Publications records consist of materials related to the press and its founder, publisher, and editor-in-chief,
SDiane Bogus. There are administrative and financial records; public relations files; correspondence and research materials;
editor and reader files; files on books and authors (published and unpublished); Bogus' writing (poetry, fiction, and non-fiction),
teaching materials, and personalia; photographic materials documenting Woman in the Moon, and the LGBT community in the South
Bay; and open reel tapes of poetry readings.

Conditions Governing Access
Cartons 1-18, Oversize Box 1, Oversize Folders 1-2, and Volume 1 are open for research. Box 1 includes photographic materials
that need conservation and is currently closed to researchers. Requests for use must be approved by the appropriate curator.

Organizational History
Woman in the Moon Publications was a new age feminist press founded by SDiane Bogus (es-di-ann, b.1946) in 1979. The press
ceased operations in 1999, after publishing over 30 books of poetry, fiction, and non-fiction by and about people of color,
LGBTQ+ people, and prisoners, and on topics in women's studies, health, new age spirituality, and spiritualism. Bogus, an
African American lesbian, is a writer, educator, actor, and new age healer; she is also known as SDiane Adamz-Bogus, Shariananda
Adamz, and The Oracle Soul-Joiner.

and research materials; editor and reader files; files on books and authors (published and unpublished); SDiane Bogus' writing
(poetry, fiction, and non-fiction), teaching materials, and personalia; and photographic materials documenting Woman in the
Moon, and the LGBT community in the South Bay; and open reel tapes of poetry readings. The collection is divided into five
series: Administrative and Financial Records and Public Relations Files; Correspondence/People and Organization Files; Submissions
and Reader Reports, and Book Files; SDiane Bogus Papers; and Photographic Materials and Audiotapes. Original folder titles
where maintained when available.
