The John Dall papers span the years 1934-1945 and encompasses approximately 3.5 linear feet. The collection includes scrapbooks, yearbooks, and a small amount of correspondence, clippings, and photographs. The bulk of the material is devoted to his stage and early film career. The scrapbooks, compiled by Dall, also contain clippings on films he was interested in during the late 1930s. Some are annotated with various comments.

Biographical / historical:

John Dall was an American actor, born in New York as John Jenner Thompson. Dall began his career as a stage actor, then appeared in films from 1945 to 1961. He is best known for his roles in ROPE (1948) and DEADLY IS THE FEMALE (1950). He was nominated for best supporting actor for THE CORN IS GREEN (1945).
