Biographical / historical:

Odes Earl Lyles was born in Forest, Mississippi on February 16, between 1892 and 1906 and died January 27, 1984. His wife was named Zelda Elinor [Williams] Lyles. The WWI Draft registration states that he was born February 16, 1892 and was a locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad. According to his family, he was employed by the Western Pacific Railroad from 1935-1968. His WWII Draft registration states that he born on February 16, 1904 and was a railroad engineer for the Western Pacific Railroad.

An article reported that Engineer O.E. Lyles was part of a locomotive crew that took Governor Earl Warren out of Sacramento, bound for the 1952 Republican Convention.
