Scope and content:: Correspondence, photographs, clippings and military documents relating to the career of Munroe McFarland, United States Army. Subject matter includes cadet life at West Point in the 1880s; army life in South Dakota. There are photographs of the Battle of Wounded Knee, 1890, published by Northwestern Photograph Company, Chadron, Nebraska, and a group photo, 1890, with Buffalo Bill. There are personal travel photos taken abroad in 1912.
Biographical / historical:: McFarland (1867-1924) entered West Point in 1884 and graduated in 1888. He rose to the rank of Brigadier General in his military career.
