Scope and content:

The Elizabeth T. Scott Notebook is a research notebook kept by Scott from 1950 through 1960 containing research she gathered on the history of the San Fernando Valley and the Santa Monica Mountain area of Los Angeles County, California covering the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries in the area. It also contains an outline for a book about the subject including a bibliography. Notes are both handwritten and typed. There are many small notes, bookmarks, newspaper clippings, and other ephemera filed throughout the notebook. Also included are statical data like the populations and elevations of local towns. The notebook is divided into the following sections: General, Towns, Trails and Stage Routes, Ranches, Street Names, Dates and Battles, Indians, Bibliography, Place Names, and Populations. Lastly, there are photographic prints captured between 1955 and 1960 depicting a Veteran Hospital, the Northridge Train Station, a business titled Zelzah Warehouse, the Fremont Pass, the Canoga Park Library, and other valley residential scenes.
