This collection is comprised of slides and clippings used in H. Alan Sims' presentation "Sacramento Port of Gold." It includes 317 35mm color slides and clippings on the Port of Sacramento, Old Sacramento, and historic vessels that docked in Sacramento (1848-2007). Research files and slides are arranged and titled with the creator's original order.

Biographical / historical:

H. Alan Sims moved to Sacramento in 1956 and began work as a docent in the California State Railroad Museum in 1992, setting up a training class for Old Sacramento tour guides with a component on maritime history. Sims later worked as an archivist with California State Parks Gold Rush Historic Sites Divisions. Over the years, he presented numerous slide presentations on the subjectt of "Sacramento Port of Gold."
