The Batchelder family photographed the images between 1937-1949 in the San Francisco Bay Area, including Paradise Cove, Raccoon Strait, and Richmond Harbor, as well as at Steamboat Slough in the Sacramento Delta. The collection contains twelve slides showing Eva Batchelder and her children, George, Paul, Jim, Ann, and John, aboard EVA B. while underway. The collection also includes two scenic views taken from aboard EVA B., one showing Red Rock Island and one showing Point Diablo with the Golden Gate Bridge in view.

Biographical / historical:

EVA B. (motor launch), a Monterey Clipper type vessel, was built circa 1936-1938 by Menotti Pasquinucci (1867-1954) at the foot of Turney Street in Sausalito, California. The Batchelder Family owned the vessel for recreational use until about 1949. New owners later renamed the vessel JUANITA and used her for duck hunting in the Sacramento Delta region. As of 2002, EVA B. is being preserved as part of the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park's small craft collection.

Acquisition information:

SAFR-02167

SAFR-02167 was a gift to the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park in 2011 from James Batchelder, a member of the family that formerly owned EVA B.
