Biographical / Historical
Sandy Howard (1927-2008) was an American radio, television, and film producer. Howard wrote short stories for magazines such
as Liberty, and worked as a publicist for Broadway shows until he became a director for the
Howdy Doody (1947-1960) television program at the age of nineteen. He went on to produce the
Captain Kangaroo show (1955-1984), and he also co-created the television program
The Merry Mailman (1950-1956). Howard began producing films beginning in the 1960s, some notable works are
A Man Called Horse (1970),
Vice Squad (1982), and
King of Africa (1968).
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the scripts, production information, photographs, and realia of American radio, television, and
film producer Sandy Howard (1927-2008). These include scripts, budgets, and schedules for such films as "Vice Squad" (1982),
"Hollywood Vice Squad" (1986), "A Man Called Horse" (1970), and more.
