Scope and content:

The collection contains ten documents including requests and submissions to the City of San Diego by William E. Ritter, Scientific Director of the Marine Biological Station located at La Jolla, California, later known as The Scripps Institute of Marine Research and Scripps Institute of Oceanography, University of California; official city documents in response to Professor Ritter; documents involving the sale, use and development of City property and Pueblo Lands for the purposes of the Marine Biological Station, including F. T. Scripps offer to purchase Pueblo Lot 1298 and C. B. Richards stated gift of the same to the City of San Diego; documents concerning La Jolla community issues in which Prof. Ritter was involved, including the sewage system and liquor licensing in the village of La Jolla, CA; entries in the bound minutes of the Park Department of San Diego concerning the laboratory buildings at La Jolla Park; and, lastly, five photographs of the drainage system at or near the Biological Station/ Scripps Institute of Oceanography sometime in or after 1925.
