Background

Scope and content:

Materials on the Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization (3HO), including newsletters, magazines, publications, guides, books, paper records, and media such as CDs, VHS, and cassettes.

Biographical / historical:

Philip Deslippe is a historian of American religion with a background in history, cultural studies, and literature, and a subject matter expert on Kundalini Yoga and the Healthy, Happy, Holy Organization (3HO).

The Healthy Happy Holy Organization (3HO) was established in 1969 in Los Angeles, CA to promote spiritual education and oversee communal ashrams, teachers, and students of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. In 1973, they were officially recognized in the United States as a formal religion, known as the Sikh Dharma Brotherhood. Since 2020, 3HO has come under scrutiny as members come forward with allegations of abuse.
