Scope and content:

This collection contains records related to San Francisco Sex Information (SFSI), an information and referral switchboard that has been providing free, confidential, accurate, non-judgmental information about sex since 1972. The organization’s volunteers undergo extensive training in all aspects of human sexuality, including reproduction, birth control, safer sex practices, HIV, sexual orientation, and gender identity. The collection contains subject files related to these issues, as well as training and resource materials for, and collected by, volunteers. There are also organizational records, including a policy manual, forms and statistics; Board materials, including meeting agendas and minutes and financial records; materials from related projects; “Speaking Freely on Sex” columns; brochures; flyers for events; articles about SFSI; photographs of Pride parades and leather parades, staff and volunteers; and a banner.
