Abstract: This collection contains various pieces of ephemera and periodical issues related to Latinos,
chiefly focused on Chicanos in California from the 1970s to 2000s. Materials include programs, fliers, brochures, clippings,
and magazine issues related
to various subjects including the Chicano movement, Cesar Chavez and farm labor, community organizing, strikes and boycotts,
community organizing,
journalism and journalist Ruben Salazar, and cultural events including plays, museum exhibits, and Día de los Muertos events.
Language of Material: Materials in the collection are in English and Spanish.

Acquisition
The collection began in the 1990s with the gift of a small file from Los Angeles bookseller Alan Adrian. The collection has
been acquired through both gift and purchases and continues to be added to regularly.

Scope and Contents
This collection contains various pieces of ephemera and periodical issues related to Latinos, chiefly focused on Chicanos
in California from the 1970s to 2000s. Materials include programs, fliers, brochures, clippings, and magazine issues related
to various subjects including the Chicano movement, Cesar Chavez and farm labor, community organizing, strikes and boycotts,
community organizing, journalism and journalist Ruben Salazar, and cultural events including plays, museum exhibits, and Día
de los Muertos events.
The collection is organized into series based on general subject area, though there is overlap among the series. Oversize
materials are held in Boxes 8 and 9.
Among the items are a set of 20 photographs of migrant farm workers (Documentary Photo Aids series, ca. 1970) (Box 8) and
scattered
issues of various newspapers and magazines
including:
-El Grito del Norte (Espanola, NM), 1969-1972 (13 issues in Box 9)
-El Malcriado (Delano, CA), 1965-1968 (6 issues in Box 3)
-La Raza, 1970-1972 (2 issues in Box 6, 1 issue in Box 9)
-Regeneracíon (Los Angeles, CA), 1970-1971 (6 issues in Box 6)
-Tin Tan (San Francisco, CA) (5 issues in Box 9)
