Background
Ira Noble Hinckley, son of Mormon pioneer emigrant Ira Nathaniel Hinckley, was called by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints to a mission in New Zealand in 1882. He spent the next two years there in company with various other LDS missionaries,
endeavoring to spread word of their faith among the European and Maori communities. He returned to Utah in 1884.
