    Biographical / Historical

    Abby Mann (1927-2008) was an American film writer and producer known for his motion picture drama screenplays.
    Mann won the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay in 1962 for Judgment at Nuremberg (1961). During his acceptance speech Mann noted, "A writer worth his salt at all has an obligation not only to entertain but to comment on the world in which he lives."

    Scope and Contents

    Abby Mann (1927-2008) was an American film writer and producer known for his motion picture drama screenplays. This collection includes scripts, in draft, working, and final forms, from Mann's film writing career throughout the 1960s and 1970s.
    Titles present are: After the Fall (1969), Andersonville (1966), Children of Sanchez (1978), The Detective (1968), Judgment at Nuremberg (1961), Ship of Fools (1965), and A Child is Waiting (1963).
