Abstract:
A collection of 56 issues of Lowrider magazine, along with three issues of Q-VO: A National Lowrider's Magazine -- all spanning from 1977 to 2003. The three issues of Q-VO--published by Q-VO Magazine/R. U. Martinez, National Lowrider Magazine, Inc.--consist of vol. 1, no. 4 (August 1979); vol. 1, no. 6 (October 1979); and vol. 2, no. 9 (January 1981). The 56 issues of Lowrider magazine, along with its variations and offshoots, begin at vol. 1, no. 1 (January 1977) and end at vol. 25, no. 12 (December 2003). Lowrider magazine's other titles and offshoot publications represented in the collection include Lowrider Arte (one issue), Lowrider Euro (one issue), Lowrider Bicycle (four issues), Lowrider Classics (one issue), and Street Customs (three issues). This collection does not contain a full run of any of these titles. The various Lowrider magazines in this collection were published by A.T.M. Communications, Inc.; McMullen Argus Publishing; Lowrider Publishing Group, Inc.; B.I.G. Publishing Ltd.; and other entities all based in California.
