A collection of 212 items which consists primarily of various legal documents and property records such as bonds, deeds, indentures, as well as genealogical materials, a few letters, photographs, newspaper clippings, and ephemera (1749-1961). There are papers related to Elisha Burlingame, Daniel F. Burlingame, Edgar Winchester, and others; there are also general and company orders, receipts, rolls, and other records accumulated by Daniel F. Burlingame who served as captain of a regiment of the 7th Division of Massachusetts Militia between 1828 and 1834. The collection also includes a copy of the song "Dixie for the Union," signed "T. W. Sweeny, Col. 52nd Ill. Volunteers" and dedicated to Miss Amelia Winchester, a fragment of a Civil War diary (Germantown, Tennessee 1863 October 29 - November 26), and a photocopy of an 1866 letter from Anson Burlingame to William S. Rosecrans. In addition, the collection contains scattered genealogical papers related to the Browne, Mason, Pierce, Fenner, Bliss and other families.

The Winchester and Burlingame families were related by the marriage of Amelia Winchester, daughter of Edgar Winchester (1821-1873), a physician of Kane County, Illinois, and Dwight C. Burlingame whose family came from Adams, Berkshire County, Massachusetts.
