Record Group I. Personal and Family Papers. This group contains documents related to Robert J. Wert. Here you will find biographies of both President and Mrs. Wert. Requests for biographical information, and newspaper articles that are the result of such requests are filed in this section. Also included are reports of family events including plans and press regarding the marriage of Peter Wert to a Mills Alumna at the Mills Chapel. This record group also contains information regarding Wert's time at Stanford, civic and academic tributes to Wert, and copies of his obituaries. Record Group II. Office of the President, 1967-1976. This group chronicles Wert's time and activities as President of Mills College from 1967-1976. This record group also records the events and happenings at Mills College during Wert's administration, and the influence of national and world concerns of the time as they were reflected at Mills. Record Group II includes correspondence between Wert and the students, parents, and faculty of Mills College, interoffice memos, and materials pertaining to Wert's yearly travel to visit alumnae around the nation. Details of Wert's inauguration at Mills, and all the speeches given on that occasion are contained in the Office of the President materials. Other speeches he gave as President of Mills are preserved in Record Group III: Speeches and Writings. Record Group III: Speeches and Writings. The largest section of this collection, Record Group III contains speeches given by President Wert in both his official capacity as Mills' President and as a respected community leader and scholar. Also in this record group of are some speeches by others speaking on the same occasions as Wert (i.e. student speeches at convocation and commencement). This Record Group contains five series, A-E. Series A contains the speeches that President Wert delivered to the Mills community for Convocation and Commencement. Series B contains speeches delivered by President Wert at Mills Campus Special Events other than Convocation and Commencement. Series C contains speeches President Wert delivered to Mills College Alumnae. Series D contains copies and press released regarding speeches President Wert gave to non-Mills groups. Series E is comprised of articles written by Wert. Record Group IV: Clippings. This record group includes articles arranged by subject. Photographs have been incorporated into the Photograph Collection of the Mills College Collection.
