Black and white photographs of the 1975 San Francisco Gay Freedom Day parade (later called the Pride Parade) taken by Daniel Cohen.

Biographical / historical:

Biographical notes provided by Paul Cohen: Daniel H. Cohen was a journalist, photographer, teacher and activist. He grew up in Baltimore, MD and attended the University of Chicago where he joined the Students for a Democratic Society Weatherman organization. He later moved to the San Francisco Bay Area for several years. He came out publicly in the early 1970s. His love of photography led him to Columbia University where he founded and led the school's photojournalism program from 1983 until his death from AIDS in 1995 at the age of 45.
