Scope and content:

In May 1963, David LaBriere was a white college student from Ohio visiting Los Angeles. On May 26, he attended and photographed the Freedom Rally, a large civil rights rally and fundraising event, at Wrigley Field in South-Central L.A. The collection contains 14 slides and 10 images from 35mm negative film. There are images of Martin Luther King, Jr., Ralph Abernathy, Sammy Davis, Jr., Maurice Dawkins, H.H. Brookins, Wyatt Tee Walker, A. A. Peters, Dorothy Dandridge, Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman, and May Britt.
