Scope and content:

The Roland Coate Jr. collection spans 5.2 linear feet and dates from 1937 to 1983. The collection is primarily composed of Coate's architectural drawings, slides, and photographs but also includes presentation drawings, newspaper clippings, and several sketchbooks documenting his own as well as Roland E. Coate Sr.'s work.

The following arrangement scheme for this collection was imposed during processing in the absence of a suitable original order. The collection is organized into four series: architecture and design projects, Roland Coate Jr.'s collection on his father, architect Roland E. Coate Sr., correspondence, and professional papers. The architecture and design project series are divided into subseries by client/project name and subsequently arranged by format (for example: architectural drawings, photographs, and slides). Roland Coate Jr.'s collection on Roland E. Coate Sr. is further divided into subseries by format as well.
