Description
Aproximately 40 episodes of the television program "The Mike Wallace Interview" from 1957-1958. This nationally televised prime time program was hosted by Mike Wallace (later of "60 Minutes" fame) and featured a variety of guests. The majority of these films are kinescopes also held by the UT Austin's Harry Ransom Center: https://www.hrc.utexas.edu/collections/film/holdings/wallace. The Ransom Center has digitized their holdings and made them available for streaming along with transcripts. It would appear that Stanford holds at least one program unavailable there: an interview with Emile Zola Berman from February 6th, 1957, probably originally airing on Wallace's previous program "Nightbeat." There is also a program with Ben Hecht February 15, 1958 for which the Ransom has only the audio recording. In addition, this collection contains an episode of the Johnny Carson Show, but no further details are available.
