Scope and content:

This collection, 1989-2011, is comprised of records, surveys, meeting minutes, correspondence, legal briefs, articles, and other documents related to Webber's time on and participation in the Los Angeles County Bar Association's Sexual Orientation Bias Committee and the California State Bar's Committee on Sexual Orientation Discrimination. Topics covered include a survey taken on sexual orientation bias in Los Angeles law firms, opinions on LGBTQ parental cases, and same-sex marriage.

Biographical / historical:

Eric A. Webber (b. 1957) is an attorney and activist in Los Angeles, California. He attended Indiana University, the London School of Economics, and received his jurisdoctorate (J.D.) from the University of Chicago.

As an attorney, Webber specialized in business financial law such as mergers and acquisitions. He has been president of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA), as well as serving on LACBA's Board of Trustees, Executive Board, and as Chair of the Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section. Webber also served as co-president of the LGBT Bar Association of Los Angeles.

Webber has been a volunteer and supporter of numerous LGBTQ community organizations, including AIDS Healthcare Foundation, Equality California, and the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center. He was a board member for Lambda Legal and has received several awards for his pro bono legal work and community activities in support of LGBTQ rights, including the Lambda Legal Liberty Award in 2013.
