Collection comprises audio recordings (both edited and unedited) of interviews conducted by Michael Phillips for his radio show Social Thought, a public radio program from 1988 to 1998. Boxes 1-19 contain the audio recordings, and Box 20 contains paper files, including recording and broadcast information as well as signed releases, photographs, and other material.

Michael Phillips (1938-) is an author of eleven books. As a banker in 1967 he organized Mastercard, and he has been a business consultant involved with marketing research and corporate responsibility for companies around the world. Phillips was president of the Point Foundation from 1972 to 1974 and Business and Portfolio Manager of Glide Foundation from 1971 to 1981. In addition to his books, Phillips has written articles for Esquire, WET, Whole Earth Review, and CoEvolution Quarterly. From 1988 to 1998 he produced and hosted the national public radio program Social Thought, interviewing a variety of thinkers and scholars in fields such as economics, sociology, political science, public policy, and the environment. The program was also broadcast on Armed Forces Radio.
