Scope and content:

This collection consists of organizational records of the Monterey County chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), including incorporation documents, bylaws, and board meeting minutes. Additional materials include general information from a forum on marriage in California and presentation notes outlining the possible establishment of a Salinas PFLAG chapter.

This collection also contains issues of PFLAG Waves, the newsletter of the Monterey County chapter of Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), which was published bimonthly. Issues include a calendar of PFLAG events, basic meeting information, community events announcements, short articles and press releases of potential interest to the local LGBTQ community, and occasionally photographs from events.

Biographical / historical:

Founded in 1972, PFLAG is the nation's largest LGBTQ family and ally organization, with a network of over 400 chapters. PFLAG provides support, education and advocacy for people who are LGBTQ, their families, and their allies.
