Scope and content:

Papers contain correspondence, lectures and speeches, reports and notes relating to Dr. Silverman's work in oral medicine and oral cancer at the UCSF School of Dentistry. Also included are materials documenting his participation in various organizations (such as the American Dental Association) and advisory boards (including the UCSF Cancer Committee and School of Dentistry Reorganization Committee), reviews of the Department of Oral Medicine and Hospital Dentistry (1980-1981) and UCSF Cancer Center (1991), and various grant and course materials.

Biographical / historical:

Dr. Sol "Bud" Silverman, Jr. was a faculty member of the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry from 1954-2014, specializing in Oral Medicine and oral cancer research.

Acquisition information:
Transferred to the archives by Caroline H. Shiboski, UCSF Department Chair of Orofacial Sciences, in 2015.
